Biography
Mehti-bek Gadzhinsky was born in May 1879 in the city of Guba . Since 1906, he headed the theater department of the Nijat Society. In 1914, Gadzhinsky was elected deputy chairman of the theater department of the Safa Society [1] .
Under the pseudonyms "Urfuzade", "Damdamaki", "Avara", "Estet" and others, he published articles, essays, stories and feuilleton about the Azerbaijani theater in the newspapers "Tarjuman", "Caspian", "Hayat", "Igbal", " Irshad ”, etc., and the magazines Zanbur, Molla Nasruddin [1] .
In 1906 - 07 years. He was the editor of the newspaper Tekamul (Evolution), which was the organ of the Gummet party [1] .
Since 1906, Gadzhinsky played on stage, created on the Baku stage such images as Karl Moor ("The Robbers " by F. Schiller ), Nadir Shah ("Nadir Shah" by N. Narimanova ) and others. [1]
He is the author of the drama Deposition of the Sultan Abdul Aziz and a translator into the Azerbaijani language of plays such as Almansur by G. Heine, The Robbers by F. Schiller, The Undergrowth by D. Fonvizin and others. [1]
Gadzhinsky was also involved in collecting and publishing samples of Azerbaijani oral folk art. He was friends with Mirza Alekper Sabir , after the death of which he took an active part in the publication of his works [1] .
During the years of Soviet rule, he collaborated with the Tiflis newspapers Yeni Fikir, Yeni Kend, and the Dan Ulduzu magazine [1] .
He died in June 1941 in Baku [1] .
