History
The history of the first settlements dates back to the Neolithic . The Celts lived in this territory from 550-50. BC e. About 100 g. e. the Romans settled in the territory of the seasons Holzgerlingen. The Alemans expelled the Romans around 300 AD e.
The first documented reference to Holzgerlingen dates back to 1007 in the deed of honor of King Henry II of the Bamberg Archdiocese . In the period from 1100 to 1400 Holzgerlingen was in the possession of the Palatines of Tübingen . In 1348 the settlement was sold and passed into the possession of the Württemberg house .
On May 12, 1525, one of the bloodiest battles of the Peasant War took place in the vicinity of Böblingen, when George III Trucksess von Waldburg-Zeil, at the head of the forces of the Swabian Union, defeated the fifteen thousand army of peasants, three thousand of whom were killed. In the turbulent times of the Thirty Years War , in 1627, military units of Albrecht von Wallenstein were stationed here. In 1635, an epidemic of plague broke out. While the War of the Polish Succession was raging in Europe, in Holzgerlingen, in 1735, Russian military units were moored, moving on a campaign against France .
In 1805, Napoleon’s army attacked Holzgerlingen, which resulted in the involvement of some residents in forced service on Napoleon I , but they managed to bazhat and return back to their families. However, 15 residents of Holzgerlingen, who, after the conclusion of an alliance between King Frederick I of Württemberg and Napoleon I, were forced to take part in a military campaign against Russia , did not return home.
