Grain grass fluffy [2] ( lat. Agropyron dasyanthum ) is a species of monocotyledonous plants of the genus Zhytnyak ( Agropyron ) of the family of cereals ( Poaceae ). First described by the German botanist Karl Friedrich von Ledebour in 1820 [3] [4] .

Distribution and habitat
Endemic of Ukraine [5] [6] , known from the central and southern parts of the country [7] . Subpopulations of the species are placed in isolation from each other; the total land area is only about 500 km² [5] .
Prefers sandy areas along river banks, other coastal areas [5] .
Botanical description
Hemicryptophyte [7] .
Perennial [8] herbaceous plant. Stem 40-75 cm long [8]
Rhizome lengthened.
Leaves lanceolate or linear, twisted, naked.
Inflorescence is a single spike-shaped brush , bilateral, linear. Spikelets carry five to six flowers.
The fruit is yellow, oblong, the upper part is fleshy.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28 [9] .
Value
Used as a fodder plant [5] .
Security Status
Information about the size of the population and its change is not [5] .
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the species is considered endangered (status "EN"). Among the threats to the species are a small area of the range, the development of infrastructure within the cities of Nikolaev and Melitopol , where isolated areas of wheatgrass grass are placed [5] .
It is listed in the Red Book of the Kherson region of Ukraine [2] .
