Vasily Nikiforovich Zolotarenko ( Ukrainian: Vasil Mikiforovich Zolotarenko ;? - † 1663 ) - Nezhin colonel , brother-in-law of Bogdan Khmelnitsky , hetman ( 1662 - 1663 ), favorite of his son Yuri, who was the godfather.

Biography
Member of the Russian-Polish war of 1654 - 1667 He distinguished himself during the siege of Smolensk .
After the death of his brother Ivan Zolotarenko in 1655, he temporarily acted as Nezhin colonel (1655 - 1656 ). In 1658 he signed the Gadyach articles and in the same year came out in support of the hetman Ivan Vygovsky , for which, among other elders, he was marked by the privileges of the Polish king. But already at the beginning of 1659 he opposed Vygovsky.
After the flight of Yuri Khmelnitsky , V.Zolotarenko sought to get hetman dignity. He participated in the battle of Kanev .
In 1662, the hetman Yakim Samko , against the will of the Moscow Tsar, held elections for the hetman of the Zaporizhzhya army . V. Zolotarenko was elected to the hetmans of the Vyduby and Ostryanska Rada. In November of the same year, the tsar issued a letter instructing the Cossacks to elect a new hetman, in the role of which was provided for Ivan Ivan Bryukhovetsky . As a result, on June 18, 1663 , the so-called Black Council near Nezhin, the Cossacks chose a new hetman, and his opponents Y. Samko and V. Zolotarenko were arrested and executed on September 18 (28), 1663 by Bryukhovetsky in Borzna .
