The son of Lieutenant General N.G. Baggovut .

He graduated from the 1st military gymnasium. He entered the service on 08/13/1870. He graduated from the Nikolaev Cavalry School ; in 1872 he was released as ensign in the Life Guards Horse Grenadier Regiment .
