Strumigenys anderseni (lat.) Is a species of small earthen ants from the subfamily Myrmicinae . Australia (Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory). Small ants (about 2 mm) with a heart-shaped head, extended posteriorly. Mandibles short triangular (with several teeth). The hairs on the scape of the antennae are not spaced, but curved or inclined to its apex. Lateral margins of the occipital lobes of the head with protruding hairs. Pronotum not bordered dorso-laterally. Dorsum of head covered with spade-shaped setae. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, pupae are naked (without cocoon). Specialized coleball hunters. The species is included in the species group Strumigenys anderseni along with several Australian species ( Strumigenys peetersi , S. shattucki ) [1] .
