The operational length of the funicular is 66 meters, which makes it one of the shortest passenger funiculars in the world [1] . The Zagreb funicular was built in 1890 and has been operating since April 23, 1893. Initially, steam engines were used, which were replaced by electric ones in 1934 [2] . The Zagreb funicular maintains its original appearance, design and most of the technical characteristics, which allowed it to be included in the list of cultural monuments of the Croatian capital [1] .
Specifications
Passengers are transported by two wagons designed for 28 people each (16 seats and 12 standing places). The cars have a length of 5,640 meters and weigh 5.05 tons each (4.97 long tons; 5.57 short tons). Each of them can carry 2240 kg. The electric motor of the funicular is located in the northern (upper) station. It has an output power of 28.5 kW (38.2 hp), operates at 400 V DC, at 720 rpm. The funicular has a track of 1200 mm, the track length is only 66 m, but the difference in height of 30.5 m forms the angle of inclination of the funicular to 52%. This makes it one of the shortest, but also one of the coolest funiculars in the world. The cars move at a speed of 1.5 m / s, so it takes 55 seconds to cover the entire distance [3] .
