Tamas and Orinis Metropolis

After Christianity came to Cyprus, Tamassos became one of the first Greek Orthodox episcopal departments on the island. His first bishops were St. Iraklidius and St. Mnason. Tamassos fell into decay by the 10th century due to the depletion of copper mines, as a result of which its economy was destroyed. Over time, the ancient ancient city was abandoned, and in its place several small settlements were formed, such as Politico and Episcopeyo. Currently, the term Tamassos denotes an area in which, in addition to the mentioned settlements, there are also the villages of Psimalofu, Pera Orinis, Ergates, Campia, Analiontas and Capedes.

In 2007, in accordance with the new charter of the Cyprus Orthodox Church, a new diocese was formed ^[1] .
