Biography

Upon completion of primary education, he entered as a novice in the monastery of Our Lady of Kikk , where he stayed for six years, while simultaneously studying in the three-year Greek school that operated at the monastery. As a scholarship holder, he was sent to Nicosia , where he continued his education at the Kikk Lyceum, which he graduated in 1969.

On April 6, 1969, the Archbishop of Cyprus, Macarius III, was ordained a deacon and enrolled in the brotherhood of the Kikk monastery.

From 1970 to 1974 he studied at the Law Faculty of the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki . He continued his studies at the theological faculty of the University of Athens, which he graduated in 1978.

On September 8, 1979, the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos I was ordained to the rank of presbyter and elevated to the rank of archimandrite .

From 1979 to 1983 - member of the Superior Council of the Kikk monastery.

For six years, he taught at the Theological Seminary of the Apostle Barnabas in Nicosia, for five years he served as the chairman of the church court of Nicosia and for three years he obeyed the Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Cypriot Orthodox Church.

On December 28, 1983, he was elected rector of the Kikk monastery by secret ballot.

On January 14, 1984, the Archbishop of Cyprus, Chrysostomus I, led his position as hegumen.

On February 14, 2002, the Archbishop of Cyprus, Chrysostomos, invited members of the Holy Synod to elevate the hegumen of the Kikk monastery of Nicephorus to the episcopate. On February 18, the Synod supported the election of Nicephorus [2] .

On February 24 of the same year, his bishop consecration took place, led by the Archbishop of Cyprus, Chrysostom I, in the service of the hierarchs of Cyprus and other churches.

On November 30, 2004, he headed the All-Carpathian and All-Cypriot pilgrimage to the Monastery of Apostle Andrei , which took place for the first time since 1974 and is located in the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus [3] .

In August 2005, he announced that the monastery would support all minor children whose parents died in two recent disasters that shocked Cyprus: in the Boeing 737 plane crash near Athens and in a car accident in Egypt [4] .

In October 2005, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, he was the most consistent supporter of the retirement of Archbishop Chrysostomus I, who by that time had not been able to manage the Church for 3 years due to health reasons. He announced his intention to appeal to the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew with a request to hold an expanded Synod to dismiss the dysfunctional archbishop Chrysostomos at rest. However, at that moment of the 8 members of the Synod, only two supported him [5] .

On May 9, 2007, a special commission of clergy and laity was unanimously elected Metropolitan of the newly formed Metropolis of Kikk and Tilliriya. At the department since May 13, 2007.

On June 3, 2008, the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki awarded him an honorary doctorate, and on October 23 of the same year, the Theological Department of the National University of Athens also awarded him an honorary doctorate.
