| It is established that a Syrian man is infected with a very contagious virus. He infects many people, including his doctor and family, and triggers a series of events that cause Atlanta Zone 6 to be quarantined through a medical cordon. Government official and Dr. Sabina Lommers erect this barrier around Zone 6 to prevent the spread of the virus. She asks police officer Lex Karnahan to remain outside the barrier in order to remain calm and become a public face of efforts to curb the spread of the virus in the rest of the city. In the end, he agrees, but only in the hope of knowing what is happening inside the quarantine, since his girlfriend Yana and his friend and colleague Jake are inside. | ||||||

| Authorities discover that the younger cousin of the Syrian man, now called “Patient Zero,” had a girlfriend who was probably exposed to the virus. Lex and Dr. Lommers must track her down to see if she has become infected. They use citywide security footage to find out that she is sleeping around somewhere in a cordon. Meanwhile, pregnant Teresa wants to visit her grandmother, who has Parkinson's disease. Before she leaves her mother’s store, a friend visits her party. Teresa's infected friend exposes her to the virus, hugging and kissing her, and then Teresa takes measures not to infect her grandmother. When authorities confirm the existence of infected people outside the cordon, they place transport containers to strengthen the barricade, which means a somewhat more permanent quarantine. | ||||||

| While Lex is trying to maintain control outside the cordon, he learns that a young woman who had close contact with an infected patient was missing. With limited resources, Lex is forced to seek help from Jake, whose growing resentment at Lex for being trapped inside makes him move in a spiral. Katie, meanwhile, should meet with the desperate parents of her students, and Teresa is shocked by the robbery in her mother’s store. In addition, Leo Green, the reporter, reveals that there is a way out of the cordon, which leads to chaos and the cessation of all communication within the cordon, with the exception of Dr. Victor Kannert. | ||||||

| Lex continues to work as a PR man until he realizes that this is not the job that he wants to do. Katie needs a medication, and Jake helps him find it and delivers it to Dr. Canners. Jana makes a phone that works inside the cordon; looking for a signal on the roof, she meets Sam, the head of operations and maintenance. She successfully makes a call, but it stops working after she speaks with Lex for a second. Teresa's mother was robbed again, but she was saved by a gang that seized the store. Xander tries to enter the cordon and, after an unsuccessful attempt, he enters with Leo's help. | ||||||

| A drop of food is organized inside the cordon. Due to the limited number of police officers who can monitor the distribution, some of the food is taken away by a gang still in charge of Mother Teresa’s store. Meanwhile, Lex is fed up with the authorities, and Katie realizes the discrepancy in the schedule of events, which leads to her finding out that responsible people are lying to the public. In the end, Mise inside the cordon is talking on satellite phone with Chief Besser, saying that he did it inside the cordon. | ||||||
