A native of Birmingham , Winwood has been accompanying childhood rhythm and blues stars since childhood - Bee King , Muddy Waters , John Lee Hooker , Bo Didley , Chuck Berry . While working at Traffic, he became a close friend of Jimi Hendrix , with whom they recorded the first version of his famous version of " All Along the Watchtower " Bob Dylan . When recording Hendrix " Voodoo Chile " Winwood played Hammond's organ , as well as the version of " With a Little Help from My Friends " recorded by Joe Cocker in 1969. In the same year he created the Blind Faith team with Eric Clapton .

In the 1970s and 1980s he was primarily engaged in a solo career, however, he gained wide popularity only in the second half of the 1980s with the singles “Higher Love” and “Roll With It”, which led the American sales chart of Billboard Hot 100 . He also played as a guest musician on some of David Gilmore , Lou Reed and Christina Aguilera records.

The biggest dance hit of 2004–05, “ Call on Me ” by Eric Pridz, is based on the sample from Valerie, recorded by Winwood in 1982, and when Pridz introduced Winwood, he was so impressed that he re-recorded the vocals to make the track even better. [one]
