Arzumanyan, Pavel Rubenovich

Pavel Rubenovich Arzumanyan (December 21, 1923, Chardjow - May 20, 2010) - Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1973), Professor, Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Commission of the Armenian SSR (1974-1981), Director of the Armenian Research Institute of Viticulture (1981-1995). He was a deputy of the Supreme Council and chairman of the permanent agricultural commission of the Supreme Council of Armenia. One of the leading experts in the field of fruit growing and viticulture, a corresponding member of the Italian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, since 1988 - Academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences .

Biography

Pavel Rubenovich was born on December 21, 1923 in the city of Chardzhou of the Republic of Turkmenistan.

In 1943 he graduated from the secondary special artillery school and was drafted into the army, where he served until 1947. Member of the Great Patriotic War.

After completing military service in 1947, he entered the Armenian Agricultural Institute. In 1949 he was transferred to study at the K.A. Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy , which he graduated in 1952. He combined his studies at the Academy with the work of an agronomist in the Tambov Region.

After graduation in 1952 he was sent to a party school under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia as a teacher of the basics of agriculture.

For 10 years he worked in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia as an instructor, deputy head, and then head of the agricultural department.

In 1963 he was appointed director of the Armenian Research Institute of Viticulture, Winemaking and Fruit Growing, where he conducted active research work.

In 1965 he defended his thesis, and in 1973 - his doctoral dissertation. In 1983 P.R.Arzumanyan was awarded the academic title of professor.

In 1974 he was promoted to the post of deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission of the Armenian SSR, where he worked until 1981.

From 1981 to 1995, he was the director of the Armenian Research Institute of Viticulture, Winemaking and Fruit Growing, and then - the chief consultant.

Scientific activity

P.R. Arzumanyan carried out large-scale work in the organization and development of agricultural products. Particular attention was paid to viticulture, winemaking and the food industry.

The research works of P. R. Arzumanyan are devoted to a comprehensive study of the environmental conditions of Armenia for the rational distribution of grapes and fruit crops, variety research, and problems of industry specialization. P.R. Arzumanyan paid particular attention to the problems of determining the effectiveness and possibility of further development of fruit growing, viticulture and, on this basis, the wine and canning industry. The research work of P. R. Arzumanyan has gained recognition in the CIS countries and abroad.

Significant developments by P.R. Arzumanyan on the disposal of waste products from the processing of grapes and fruits to obtain animal feed.

Over the years as director of the Armenian Research Institute of Viticulture, Winemaking and Fruit Growing, the institute was awarded the “Badge of Honor” order and achieved numerous diplomas, diplomas, certificates, gold and silver medals.

Thanks to his active assistance and daily work with staff, 45 doctoral and 80 master's theses were defended through Ph.D. Arzumanyan P.R. took great care of the village of Mertsavan, where the institute is located.

Arzumanyan P.R. actively participated in the public life of the republic. He was a deputy of the Supreme Council and chairman of the permanent agricultural commission of the Supreme Council of Armenia, for many years a member of the presidium of agricultural workers of the Armenian trade union, was a member of the presidium of the Armenian Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Affairs, a member of the editorial board of the Armenian Encyclopedia, as well as numerous magazines.

Proceedings

The results of many years of research are summarized in two monographs and more than 160 scientific articles, 10 copyright certificates have been obtained.

Rewards

He was awarded two orders of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of the Patriotic War, many medals, including four gold and six silver medals of VDNH, as well as numerous diplomas, diplomas and certificates.
