Jack Olderman ( May 29, 1951 - September 16, 2008 ) was an American murderer who had been waiting for his execution for 33 years. This is one of the longest waiting periods for execution in the history of global jurisprudence and one of the longest periods in the history of the American judicial system [1] .

Biography
Alderman was born on May 29, 1951 . June 14, 1975 was convicted of the murder of his wife Barbara. She was severely beaten, strangled and thrown into the stream. On April 1, 1985 , when reviewing the case, he was again sentenced to death. Alderman denied his guilt and refused to plead guilty (a confession would save his life) [2] . Throughout his stay on death row, disputes about his guilt in killing his wife were rather active [2] . At 7:25 pm on September 16, 2008, Alderman was executed with a lethal injection. He did not order a special last meal , having received regular prison food on the day of the execution, and refused the last word before the execution [3] .
