Career

Dionisio Arce began his career at the Sportivo Luqueno club. Then he got into the national team of Paraguay . With the national team, the forward played in the championship of South America . There, the striker spent 6 games in which he scored 7 goals, three of which in a meeting with Chile . Paraguayans in the tournament took second place [1] . After the end of the championship, the Italian forward Lazio offered the contract to the forward. Dionisio was so popular in Luke that when he was leaving for Asuncion by bus, Sportivo fans tried to puncture the tires so that the attacker was late.

In December 1949, Arce became a Lazio player who paid $ 15,000 for the forward transfer. On February 12 of the following year, he made his team debut in a match with Padova , in which the “bianco-celebrities” won 4-0 [2] . At the club, the striker made a pair with another striker, Norbert Heffling . The reason for the departure of the striker was the explosive character [3] of Arce: he constantly clashed with coach Mario Sperone , and on October 22, 1950 in the match “Lazio” and “ Sampdoria ” Dionisio threw the ball into the face of the referee Massai, for which he was disqualified for 5 games [4] ] . Dionisio was also detained for a fight, which he committed in the center of Rome. Well, the main reason was called the unproven romantic relationship of Arce and Heffling's wife [2] . In total for the “White and Blue” Paraguayan spent 28 games and scored 9 goals.

In 1951, he moved to Napoli , having spent only 11 games and 2 goals for the club. Also unsuccessful was his performance for Sampdoria - only 5 meetings. In 1953, Arce became a player of Novara . There he performed with Italian football veteran Silvio Piola . For this team, the footballer played 71 matches and scored 23 goals. He then played for Torino , making his debut in a meeting with Fiorentina on September 30, 1956 [5] . Arce completed his career at the Palermo and SPAL clubs [6] .
