Biography
Sergey Boykov was born in 1828. He was an artist of the Imperial Theaters in the city of St. Petersburg [1] [2] .
He wrote, translated and adapted for the Russian theater many vaudevilles and one-act comedies (about forty plays), of which only a small number were published during his lifetime [3] . Some of these vaudevilles survived the author for a long time and enjoyed success on theatrical stages of the Russian Empire and at the beginning of the 20th century , right up to the October Revolution [4] . Among them, in particular, were the plays: “ Hang up or drown ”, “ 15-year-old widow ”, “ Tenant with trombone ”, “ Ladies' wagon ”, “ Bought shot ”, “ Two bears in one den ”, “ Dummy fiance ” , " Tramps " [1] [5] .
Sergey Osipovich Boykov died on October 3, 1877 [6] .
