“Pskov Province” is a weekly regional political newspaper published in the Pskov Region. Issued since August 2000 [2] .

The publisher of the newspaper is Svobodnoe Slovo LLC, since November 30, 2016 it has been publishing the Moscow Komsomolets in Pskov in the Pskov Region.
In 2015, the newspaper was awarded the Gerd Bucerius International Freedom of Speech Award [3] [4] .
Newspaper format
"Pskov province" is published once a week on 16 pages. The format of the spread of the newspaper is A2. Stripes - A3. As of July 25, 2017, the total circulation of the newspaper is 5500 copies.
Since June 2016, the publication has switched to work in an online format, an informational tape with exclusive news from the region and Russia has appeared on the site. The average weekly site audience is 16-18 thousand unique users.
Newspaper Team
Svobodnoe Slovo LLC at the end of 2016 formed a joint editorial office, which publishes the newspapers Pskov Province and MK in Pskov. At the start of the MK in Pskov project, Denis Kamalyagin, editor-in-chief of the Pskov Province, headed the project, and on May 17, 2017, he was replaced by a columnist for the Pskov Province Pavel Dmitriev. Today, Denis Kamalyagin, Pavel Dmitriev, Vladimir Kapustinsky, Lyudmila Savitskaya, Olga Mironovich, Aleksey Semenov, Svetlana Prokopyeva are working in the joint editorial staff.
Investigation of the funeral of Russian soldiers in 2014
On August 25, 2014, the newspaper was the first to publish information on the closed funeral in Vybuty (near Pskov) of contract servicemen of the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division Leonid Kichatkin and Alexander Osipov, who died last week “under unclear circumstances” [5] [6] . The publication expressed the version that the dead could directly participate in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine on the side of opponents of the Ukrainian authorities, where they were killed [5] [7] .
Journalists involved in this case received threats and were attacked near the cemetery [5] . And on August 29, 2014, L. M. Schlosberg, who was returning home from the office, was attacked from the back by three unknown persons [5] . He was beaten with blunt objects, striking the head and stomach. L. M. Schlosberg was hospitalized, he was diagnosed with a head injury, temporary amnesia, a broken nose and multiple facial bruises [7] [8] .
Prizes and awards for newspapers and journalists
In 2011, Lev Shlosberg became the laureate of the highest professional award of the Russian Golden Journalists Union of Journalists of Russia for a series of publications dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the death of the 6th company of the 76th (Pskov) airborne division. In 2014, L. Schlosberg became a finalist of the Andrei Sakharov Prize "For Journalism as an Act."
In 2004, Valentin Chesnokov won the Golden Gong Prize of the Alliance of Russian Regional Media Leaders in the Investigation of the Year nomination for a series of materials on relations of power and property in the Pskov Region.
In 2011, Leo Schlosberg was awarded the Golden Gong in the nomination Unknown Soldier for articles on residential development at the site of the Stalag-372 concentration camp.
