Born in 1890 in Ehime Prefecture. In 1911 he graduated from Kaigun Haigakko , served as a midshipman on the cruisers Aso and Iwate , a substitute for the squadron battleship Sikisima , the cruiser Izumo , and an armored cruiser the Tsukuba, the destroyer Katsura. In 1918 he was promoted to lieutenant , served on the battleship Mutsu , the hydrographic vessels Musashi and Yamato. In February 1924, became the head of the artillery unit on the battleship " Ise ". After production in December 1924, he served as lieutenant commander on the Kiso and Abukuma cruisers, and on November 30, 1929, he received command of his first ship, the destroyer Hopsu.

From October 1942 to December 1943, Mitiaki Kamada served in the command and staff structures of the 8th Fleet operating in the waters of New Guinea . On August 23, 1944, he assumed command of the naval forces subordinate to the 22nd naval base, based in Balikpapan , which made him the military governor of the Netherlands Kalimantan. May 1, 1945 was promoted to vice admirals. On September 8, 1945, he capitulated to Australian Major General Edward Milford .

After the capitulation of Japan, the Netherlands military tribunal in Pontianak accused Mitiaki Kamada of war crimes: the execution of 1,500 natives in western Kalimantan , and mistreatment from 2,000 Dutch prisoners of war on Flores Island . Kamade was sentenced to death, which was carried out on October 18, 1947. .
