The name is translated from Chukot. - β€œforest (wood) river” [3] .

The length of the river is 66 km. It takes the sources of the northeastern slopes of the Pekulnaya mountain of the Chukchi Highlands , flows into the Inchoun lagoon of the Chukchi Sea .

The river is a spawning ground for salmonids [4] . A small population of a rare endemic, the Beringian omul, is also found here [5] .

A rare species of Grimmia anodon mosses is noted in the lower reaches of Uttyweya , in the Arctic more rarely found [6] .

The Uttyveem basin is included in the territory of the Beringia National Park (Inchone section) [7] .
