One of the earliest examples of the Semba musical genre has been preserved in the form of the first known Angolan score dating back to 1875. The song is called "Madya Kandimba" ( Madya Kandimba ), it tells the story of a European love for his African maid [1] . More precisely, the composition was written for the Masemba choir, and its melodics and poetics testify to the symbiosis of African and European cultures.
Marisa Jean Morman (Marissa Jean Moorman) wrote that a new musical genre of samba appeared in the 60-70s of the XX century [2] .
A characteristic feature of salba, like all Angolan music, is improvisation, a fluid repeating rhythm, a complex polyrhythmia of percussion instruments and a pronounced syncopated manner of performance.
