Thorsmork ( Iceland. Þórsmörk ) is a mountain range in Iceland , named after the northern god Thor . It is located in the south of Iceland between the Tindfjadlajökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers. Strictly speaking, the name Toursmerk refers only to the part of the ridge that lies between the Crossau , Tröngau and Markarflout rivers , but it is often used to describe a wider area, including the area between Toursmirk and Eyyafyadlayokyudl. Toursmork is one of the most popular places for hiking in Iceland.

In a valley surrounded by glaciers, the climate is warmer and milder than the rest of the south of Iceland. Mosses, ferns and small bushes grow here.
Toursmork is popular with hiking enthusiasts. Various types of tours are offered, from walks on glaciers to trekking ( Laugavegur route to Landmannaluiigur ) or small excursions, such as the Stakkholtsgya canyon to its waterfall, or five-day hikes to the tops of the surrounding mountains. Wandering along the Crossau Valley is a cold river with a rapid current flowing from glaciers; you can cross it by a pedestrian bridge.
After the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in spring 2010, most of this area was covered with a thick layer of volcanic ash. It took several months for the local nature to return to its original form.
