History

Ustashi destroy the cathedral, 1941

The construction of Holy Trinity Cathedral began in 1925 and was completed in 1929. The cathedral was consecrated in 1939. The temple was damaged during the bombing on April 12, 1941 and was later destroyed by the Ustashi .

After World War II , a monument to the fallen soldiers was erected on the site of the temple. In 1992, permission was granted to rebuild the temple, and the monument was moved to another place. In 1993, the foundation was laid, which was consecrated by the Patriarch of Serbia Pavel . On September 26, 2004, the first liturgy was served in the church. The official consecration took place on May 28, 2009 on the Ascension Day [1] .

Architecture

The temple is built of red and yellow travertine from Mesopotamia . Three-layer walls - stone, reinforced concrete and brick. The domes are covered with chrome gold-colored tin, brought from Siberia .

The length of the cathedral is 22.1 m, the width is 19.5 m, the height of the dome is 22.37 m. The bell tower has a square base with dimensions of 5.40 × 5.40 m. The height of the bell tower (without a cross) is 44.95 m, with a cross - 47.1 m [2] .
