In 2011, the British girl-group Little Mix recorded a cover of Cannonball as the song of the winner of the eighth season of the British show The X Factor . After the Little Mix were announced as winners, their single went on sale on December 11, 2011 [5] . Little Mix, having won first place, performed a song on the eighth season finale of “The X Factor”. Marcus Collins, who finished second, and Amelia Lily, who became third, also pre-recorded their versions of the single in the studio. A few days before the final, HMV on its website opened a pre-order for the version of Amelia Lily. Later, HMV representatives apologized, citing technical problems [6] .
"Cannonball" debuted at number one on the UK official singles chart , becoming the best-selling single of 2011, but never broke the 2004 sales record [7] . The following week, he was replaced by the first single from the band Military Wives, and although Cannonball was sold in the amount of 390,000 copies at the end of 2011, it ranked only 41 in the list of best-selling singles of 2011 (sold 17,000 less, than Lego House by Ed Sheeran ).
Criticism Reviews
In a positive review, Robert Copsi of Digital Spy gave the song three out of five stars, noting that Little Mix successfully changed the music of the original [8] .
