Biography
Alexander Efimovich Baranov was born on August 30, 1901 in the city of Bakhmut . After graduating from junior high school he worked at the mine. In 1919, Baranov went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He participated in the battles of the Civil War. After graduation, he continued to serve in the Red Army. In 1926, Baranov graduated from the Institute of Chemical Technology, in 1930 - the military-economic department of the Institute of National Economy named after G.V. Plekhanov . He headed the department of the Chemical Department of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army, and later taught at the Military Chemical Academy (now the Military Academy of the Russian Chemical Plant and Engineers ) [1] .
During the Great Patriotic War, Baranov headed the department first, then the Armament Directorate of the Main Chemical Directorate of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. November 17, 1943 he was awarded the military rank of Major General of the Engineering Service. After the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army, was a teacher at the Military Academy of Chemical Protection, was the head of the faculty, and the head of the research department of the academy. In February 1956, Baranov was sacked [1] .
He lived in Moscow . He died on April 25, 1974, was buried at the Vvedensky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
