Hemp tie

Hemp Tie [1] (Hangman's Tie) is the thirty-first novel from the fantasy adventure cycle, written jointly by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allen . First published in a separate edition on August 20, 1913 (publisher Artem Fayar ). Reissued in October 1934 under the name "Servant of Fantômas" ( fr. Le Domestique de Fantômas ). The cover of the original edition by artist Gino Starace . The action of the novel takes place almost entirely in Russia, mainly in St. Petersburg [2] .

Content

Story

At the beginning of the novel, in accordance with the usual stereotype of the image of Russia in French mass literature , depicted a fierce St. Petersburg (—20 degrees) winter. Fantômas kills Boris Prokov, the head of the secret police, burns his corpse in a Russian stove and reincarnates into Prokov. Journalist Fandor hunts down Fantômas, but he (in the guise of the Intercession) orders his arrest; Fandor is sentenced to death by hanging, but he is saved by nihilists who believed that Fandor was going to kill Pokrova. At the moment of execution, Fandor is covered with a bag with an ingenious device that allowed him to survive. However, making sure that Fandor is an opponent of the nihilists, the revolutionary tribunal re-sentenced him to death. Thanks to the intervention of one of the members of the tribunal (beloved Fandor Helene, dressed in the nihilist Olga) revolutionaries offer the journalist to go to penal servitude instead of the nihilist Berena; He agrees, goes on stage, and on the fifth day, having got rid of the shackles in an ingenious way, he runs into the forest. Meanwhile, Juve arrives in St. Petersburg under the guise of engineer Paul ...
