The checkpoint protein HUS1 is a protein encoded in humans by the HUS1 gene [1] [2] .

Functions
The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the evolutionarily conserved, genotoxin-activated protein complex of the control point, which is involved in stopping the cell cycle in response to DNA damage. This protein forms a complex with heterotrimeric proteins of the checkpoint RAD9 and RAD1. In response to DNA damage, the trimeric complex interacts with another protein complex consisting of the RAD17 protein and four small subunits (RFC), which fixes the combined complex to chromatin . Chromatin binding induced by DNA damage depends on the activity of the ATM kinase , and is considered an early event in the signaling pathway triggered at a reference point [3] .
