The series consists of 20 coins of various denominations. Some of the coins in the series have similar design elements for obverse and reverse [1] [2] [3] .
The issue of the coin “Victory in V.O.V. 1941-1945” was announced by the NBU by letter of May 4, 1995 [4] . A coin of 200,000 Karbovans was named "anniversary", a series of coins is not mentioned in the letter.
In the letters of the NBU dated October 19, 1999 [5] and November 20, 2000 [6] on the issue of new coins dedicated to the Great Patriotic War , the coins are also called "jubilee", a series of coins is not indicated in the letters.
For the first time, coins were called “commemorative” in the title of the NBU letter dated October 24, 2003, which announced the release of coins in denominations of 5 and 20 hryvnias [7] , while in the letter text (in the first and last paragraphs) the coins are still called “ anniversary ”, a series of coins is not indicated.
By a letter of April 26, 2005 [8] it was announced the release of two coins called “jubilee” - silver in 20 hryvnias and coins from aluminum bronze in 1 hryvnia. A series of coins in the letter is not indicated. The 1 hryvnia coin is classified by the NBU as “negotiable coins” ( Ukrainian coin ), and is not included in the “Commemorative Coins” section of the NBU coin database.
In the decisions of the NBU, announcing the release of coins in 2013 and 2014 (decisions of July 12, 2013 [9] , of August 29, 2013 [10] , of October 4, 2013 [11] , of December 13, 2013 [12] , dated January 21, 2014 [13] , dated July 17, 2014 [14] ), all coins are called “commemorative”, a series of coins is not mentioned in them.
The name of the series of coins appeared only in the Commemorative Coin Issue Plan for 2015 [15] and in the resolution of the NBU Board dated March 12, 2015 [16] . In these documents, the series is called “Victory in the Great Patriotic War”, but in the base of commemorative coins on the NBU’s website, the series is called “Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” ( Ukrainian Peremoga at the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 pp. ). Issue of the commemorative coin “70 years of Victory. 1945–2015 ”(the first coin to issue the Victory in the Great Patriotic War series of coins), issued on May 5, 2015, and on May 21 of that year, Law No. 315-VIII“ On Perpetuating the Victory over Nazism ”entered into force in the Second World War of 1939-1945 ”, which removed the term“ World War II ”from the legislation of Ukraine [17] .
The commemorative coin issuance plan for 2016 does not provide for the issuance of coins in this series [18] .
