Semmering is the oldest ski resort in Europe, which is located 1 hour (100 km) from Vienna . Founded back in 1888, today it is a classic Austrian resort year-round functioning with ski and toboggan runs in the winter and a modern bike park, hiking trails and mountain lakes in the summer [1] .

The town of Semmering is located in the southern Austrian province of Neunkirchen. A well-known health resort and ski resort, he was several times elected as the official venue for the Alpine Ski World Cup. The tourist boom here began after the construction of the railway in 1854. Although now there are fewer tourists, according to the hotels, about 100,000 guests are recorded each year. In 2001, the population of the town numbered 610 people.

During the 19th century, the resort town of Semmering enjoyed success with the Viennese aristocracy.
This place received a new life after the laying of the railway, in 1854. By train, it became possible to overcome the distance from Vienna in just a few hours, which imperceptibly flew past the contemplation of local beauties.

Semmering is located about 95 km south of Vienna and 110 km from Graz, on the border between Lower Austria and Styria.
