Biography
Born November 21, 1852 in a family of hereditary noblemen of the Moscow province . He graduated from the boundary building . He entered the service in 1869. He graduated from the 3rd Military Alexander School (1871), and was promoted to ensign by the 1st Artillery Brigade. Second Lieutenant (1872), Lieutenant (1873), Staff Captain (1876), Captain (1878). In 1881 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff .
Senior Adjutant to the Headquarters of the 2nd Cavalry Division in 1881-1882. He consisted of commissions at the headquarters of the 2nd Army Corps (May - July 1882), then at the headquarters of the troops of the Kiev Military District (1882-1883). Lieutenant Colonel (1882). Head of the Moscow Military School in 1901-1903. Head of the Alexander Military School in 1903-1905. Lieutenant General (1904). Head of the 3rd Grenadier Division (1905-1909). April 15, 1909 was appointed commander of the 17th Army Corps. General from Infantry (1910). He began World War I at the head of the corps as part of the 5th Army of the Southwestern Front . In August 1914, during the Battle of Galicia, he took command of the southern group of corps of the 5th Army ( 5th and 17th). Then, as part of the 9th Army, its corps distinguished itself in battles near New Korchin on December 10-15, 1914.
During the Brusilovsky breakthrough, he distinguished himself under Sopanov and Brody (1916), then in the Carpathians. For breaking through the enemyβs front near Sopanov, where the corps captured May 22 - June 3, 1916 242 officers and 11,440 lower ranks, he was awarded the Order of St. George 4th class (08/04/1916). After the February Revolution, on April 2, 1917, he was removed from his post and enlisted in the reserve of ranks at the headquarters of the Kiev Military District, and on July 14, 1917 he was dismissed from sick service with a uniform and pension.
