The population is 448 people (as of December 31, 2006). It covers an area of 17.65 km².
In 1910, 700 people lived in Kökt [1] . Kökte used to have the status of a community (commune). January 1, 2011, the settlement became part of the city of Gardelegen [2] . The last burgomaster of the community was Zilfia Deneke.
