Biography
G.K. Venediktov was born in Lithuania, in the village of ( lit. Ulytėlė ) of the Rokiski county, near the border with Latvia . In 1947 he graduated from the IV male gymnasium in Vilnius . In the same year he entered the Department of Psychology of the Philosophical Faculty of Leningrad University . In 1948 he moved to the Slavic branch of the Faculty of Philology , where Bulgarian philology became his specialization. In the 1952/53 academic year, he spent eight months on an internship at Sofia University as part of the first group of Soviet Bulgarian students.
In 1953, G.K. Venediktov graduated from the university and entered graduate school in the department of Slavic philology (supervisor - professor Yu. S. Maslov ). In March 1956 he was accepted as a junior research fellow at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR , where he worked for about sixty years (since 1977, a senior fellow). In 1963 he defended his dissertation at the Institute, “ Verbs of Movement in the Bulgarian Language, ” and in 1992, his doctoral dissertation, “Modern Bulgarian Literary Language at the Formation Stage: Problems of Normalization and the Choice of the Dialectic Base.”
G.K. Venediktov is the author of a number of monographs , about 250 articles, reviews, publications and reviews devoted mainly to the problems of Bulgarian linguistics. The main subject of his linguistic research is the history of the modern Bulgarian literary language, and first of all, the extralinguistic factors that determined the specifics of its normalization and the establishment of the dialect base in the context of the national and cultural revival of Bulgaria. In addition, his research includes the morphology of the verb and name of the Bulgarian literary language, the history of the vocabulary of the literary language, Bulgarian dialectology and linguogeography, as well as the history of Bulgarian typography in the 19th century, Russian-Bulgarian cultural and scientific ties in the 19th century, the history of Russian Slavic studies (the main way, Bulgarian).
G.K. Venediktov is a member of the editorial board of the Brief Communications published by the Institute of Slavic Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the 1950s and 1960s, a member of the editorial board of the Slavic Studies journal, a serial publication of Slavic and Balkan Linguistics, a member of the editorial board and executive editor of many publications of the Institute of Slavic Studies USSR Academy of Sciences (RAS), member of the publishing council of the Bulgarian magazines “Bulgarian Ezik” and “Ezik and Literature”. Member of the Commission of Historians of Russia and Bulgaria. A participant in dozens of Slavic scientific conferences and other scientific events held in the USSR / Russia and abroad.
