Biography

The son of a member of the military college of Lieutenant General Mikhail Savvich Yakovlev, he received a home education. January 1, 1765, less than ten years old, he was enlisted in the military.

He began to serve in the post of regimental quartermaster on September 8, 1776. Soon, on October 6 of the same year, he was transferred to adjutant to Field Marshal Count Z. G. Chernyshev . On September 17, 1784, he was transferred to the commissariat by the krigstsalmeister, on June 30, 1789 he was appointed prosecutor there, and on May 28, 1797, upon the abolition of the krigskommissariat , he was dismissed.

February 20, 1803, when, with the assistance of his relative A. A. Yakovlev , who had just been appointed synodal chief prosecutor, he was appointed prosecutor of the Moscow synodal office. In this position, he died on July 19, 1810. He was buried at the Lazarevsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra [1] .

At the beginning of his service in the synodal office, Yakovlev, following the example of his relative, the synodal chief prosecutor, showed a desire for great independence, which caused displeasure from the Moscow Metropolitan Plato . After the fall of his relative, Yakovlev ceased to attract attention and lived as a lonely man in his huge estates in the Moscow and Kostroma provinces.
