Wellesley, charles

Lord Charles Wellesley ( January 16, 1808 , Dublin - October 9, 1858 , Apsley House , London ) - British politician , military and court . The second (youngest) son of Arthur Wellesley ( 1769–1852 ), 1st Duke of Wellington ( 1814–1852 ), and Kitty Pekinham ( 1773–1831 ), daughter of Edward Paekinham, 2nd Baron Longford. The elder brother is Arthur Richard Wellesley, 2nd Duke of Wellington.

Biography

Lord Charles Wellesley from the Conservative Party (Tories) was twice elected to the House of Commons ( deputy from the South Hampshire district in 1842-1852 and from Windsor County in 1852-1855 ).

Stallmeister and clerk-marshal of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom .

Major General of the British Army.

Family and children

On July 9, 1844, Lord Charles Wellesley married Augustus Sophia Ann Pierpoint (d. July 13, 1893 ), the daughter of diplomat Henry Manvers Pierpoint ( 1780 - 1851 ) and Lady Sophia Cecil (d. 1823 ), daughter of Henry Cecil, 1st Marquis of Exeter . The couple had six children:

  • Lady Alexandrina Victoria Wellesley (died July 3, 1933 ), husband since September 6, 1877 Jon Trent Hamilton, 1st Baron Holmpatrick (1839-1898)
  • Lady Mary Angela Wellesley (died April 26, 1936 ), husband since September 7, 1875 George Arthur Jervois Scott (1833–1895), son of James Winter Scott and Lucy Gervois.
  • Lady Georgina Wellesley (died February 3, 1880 ), husband from July 22, 1874 to William Rolle Malcolm (1840–1923)
  • Arthur Wellesley ( May 5, 1845 - July 7, 1846 )
  • Henry Wellesley, 3rd Duke of Wellington ( April 5, 1846 - June 8, 1900 )
  • Arthur Charles Wellesley, 4th Duke of Wellington ( March 15, 1849 - June 18, 1934 )

Arthur Wellesley, 2nd Duke of Wellington, elder brother of Lord Charles Wellesley, died childless in 1884 . The ducal title was inherited by Henry Wellesley , the eldest of Charles's sons who survived. In 1900, Arthur Charles Wellesley replaced his childless brother as Duke of Wellington.
