Liftware is the brand name for a spoon designed to counteract tremors associated with diseases such as Parkinson’s disease [1] or essential tremor [2] . The company Lift Labs, which developed the project, was founded by Anupam Pathak [3] .
The device works by detecting hand tremors using an accelerometer and compensating them using a special actuator . [4] The product first became available in December 2013. [5]
Lift Labs was acquired by Google in September 2014 with the goal of integrating into the Google X Biomedical Division [6] of the Google-controlled Google X organization. [7] and Patak became one of the senior hardware engineers of this unit. [3]
Google released its own version of the spoon in November 2014, setting the price at $ 295 [3] .
