COUP-TFII ( transcription factor COUP 2 ), also known as NR2F2 (subfamily of nuclear receptors 2, group F, element 2) is a protein encoded in humans by the NR2F2 gene [1] [2] . The acronym COUP stands for chicken ovalbumin upstream promoter , the upstream chicken ovalbumin promoter.

Function
COUP-TFII plays an important role in the regulation of the development of a number of tissues and organs, including the heart, blood vessels, muscles, and limbs [3] [4] .
Glucocorticoid receptors stimulate COUP-TFII-mediated gene transactivation, and COUP-TFII itself inhibits the transcriptional activity of glucocorticoid receptors [5] [6] . COUP-TFII interacts with GATA2 , inhibiting adipocyte differentiation [7] .
