Organization
The Skoll Foundation was established in 1999 , after its founder - Jeffrey Skoll left eBay , sold his stake in the company for $ 2 billion, donated half of this amount to the Fund and headed it [3] .

The structure of the “Skoll Foundation Network” in 2014 includes [3] :

Activities
Among the important social tasks, the Skoll Foundation highlights maintaining environmental sustainability, protecting health, supporting tolerance and human rights, economic and social equality, peace and security [3] .
In 2014, the Fund paid special attention to the threats of climate change, the proliferation of nuclear weapons, global epidemics, the conflict in the Middle East and water scarcity [3] .
Under the grant program, the Skoll Foundation allocates up to 1 million US dollars for each project over three years, seeking its entry into the stage of "pilot testing", which will be followed not only by implementation, but also by further expansion and scaling [3] .

For 2000-2010, the Skoll Foundation is one of the largest organizations supporting social entrepreneurship [4] [5] and one of the most influential centers of venture philanthropy, under the auspices of which a whole network of other organizations, programs and forums has opened [3] .
According to the data for 2010-2011, the Skoll Foundation had its own assets in the amount of more than 512 million US dollars, while investing more than 15 million dollars [1] .
Among those supported by the Skoll Foundation, for example, John Wood's Room to Read organization, which specializes in building and providing libraries and schools in the poorest areas of the world, is distinguished [3] . In particular, thanks to support, Room To Read opened its 10-thousandth library in 2010, built a thousandth school and supported a ten thousandth girl through its program Girls >> Education [3] .
