The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship is a Swiss international nonprofit foundation created to support and finance individuals and organizations active in the field of social entrepreneurship [1] [2] .

The Schwab Social Entrepreneurship Foundation was established in 1998 by the Swiss economist , founder and permanent president of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Klaus Schwab and his wife Hilda Schwab to support the “world community of outstanding social entrepreneurs” [2] [3] . The purpose of his activity is “the development of social entrepreneurship and the promotion of social entrepreneurs as an important catalyst for social innovation and progress” [3] .
The headquarters of the Schwab Social Entrepreneurship Fund is located in Geneva ( Switzerland ).
As of April 2015, the Board of the Fund includes: Hilda Schwab , Klaus Schwab , Rick Aubry , Paulo Coelho , David Gergen ( David Gergen ; Advisor to the Presidents of the USA), Queen of Belgium Matilda , Zenel Mbeki ( English Zanele Mbeki ; former first lady of South Africa), Muhammad Yunus [4] .
The Schwab Foundation is headed by a former senior WHO official , Pamela Hartigan .
For 2000-2010, the “Schwab Foundation” is one of the largest organizations supporting social entrepreneurship [1] [2] .
By 2007, the Schwab Foundation provided access to financial and other resources, as well as providing ideas for 72 social entrepreneurs from around the world.
Each year, the Fund selects 20-25 social entrepreneurs as part of the global competition “Social Entrepreneurs of the Year” [3] .
The Schwab Foundation holds annual meetings of social entrepreneurs in Geneva , regional economic conferences, and sponsors the participation of its members in the International Economic Forum in Davos [1] [2] [3] .
Organized by the Schwab Foundation, meetings of social entrepreneurs with owners and heads of major international corporations, as well as senior officials, lead to the creation of joint projects [2] . For example, during the World Economic Forum 2003, Jeru Billimoria met with the Under-Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Roberto Blois [2] . This meeting became a key one for the decision to create the International Association of Children's Helplines [2] .
The following organizations also recognized the “Schwab Foundation”: “ Sekem ” ( Ibrahim Abulish ) [5] .
