The 5th Bolivarian Games were held from November 23 to December 6, 1965 in Quito and Guayaquil ( Ecuador ). The competition was attended by 1,200 athletes from 6 countries. The opening ceremony of the Games was held in both cities at the same time: in Quito, the games were officially opened by the chairman of the ruling military junta, Ramon Castro Chiron , and in Guayaquil, by the president of the organizing committee, Jaime Garcia Naranjo.
