Zistedt previously had the status of a community (commune) and was divided into 2 rural districts. January 1, 2010 merged with a number of neighboring settlements, forming the new city of Ebisfelde-Weferlingen [1] . The last burgomaster of the Zistedt community was Michael Heiligtag.
