Formed by Napoleon on August 29, 1803 in the camp of Saint-Omer , and was part of the Army of the Ocean Coast . The division commander throughout the existence of the division was the division general Claude Legrand . The division took an active part in the campaigns of 1805, 1807 and 1809.

It was disbanded by the Emperor on March 2, 1810 during the reorganization of the French troops in Germany [1] .
