Amsterdam ( Dutch: Amsterdam ) is a Dutch song by composers Frans Smith, Robert Verwey and Syaukie Smith, written in 1980 by poet Alex Alberts. In the same year, she was recorded by music producer Peter van Asten at the Warner Music Group , becoming the first Dutch song recorded at this company.

This was the second participation of the singer in the Eurovision Song Contest . In 1974, she took third place with the song “ ” ( Dutch. Ik zie een ster ) in a duet with .
The 1980 competition was held in The Hague . The song, arranged by , was performed after the performance of Portuguese contestant with the song “ ” and before the French contestant from the Pro group with the song “ . The orchestra was conducted by Rohir van Otterlo . During the vote, Amsterdam received 93 points and took 5th place out of 19.
Maggie McNeill recorded the song in four languages - Dutch , English , German and French . All versions with the same name, with the exception of the German, which was called "Amsterdam, Amsterdam, only here I am at home" ( German: Amsterdam, Amsterdam, nur da bin ich zuhaus ).
In the same decade, the Dutch singer Gerard Joling performed a cover version of the song. In 2004, Venezuelan percussionist Gerardo Rosales recorded the salsa version of the song.
