Leptogenys crassicornis (lat.) - a species of ants ( Formicidae ) of the genus Leptogenys from the subfamily Ponerinae . China , Myanmar . Small brown ants (TL 4.8-5.0 mm). The eyes are medium sized, located in the anterolateral parts of the head. The mandibles are elongated, closed, touching the clypeus (without a gap between them), with 3 teeth on the chewing edge, the inner edge without teeth. The head is short (CI: 83-86), sub-square. Head and abdomen, mainly smooth and shiny, with small punctures. Antennae 12-segmented. The mandibular palps are 4-segmented, the lower labial palps are composed of 4 segments. The stalk consists of one segment ( petiol ). Petiol is above its length. The species was first described in 1895 by the Italian entomologist Carlo Emery [1] [2] [3] [4] .
