Goltyakov, Nikolai Ivanovich (1815-1910) - gunsmith and designer, owner of a small factory in Tula engaged in the production of hunting and combat weapons, as well as samovars [1] , "the most prominent gunsmith of Tula" [2] .

Biography
He studied at a parish school, later studied the art of gunsmithing at the Tula arms factory . From 1836 - master of the factory’s castle shop, in 1840 opened his own weapons workshop for the production of hunting rifles, then, in the early 1840s, he went to the Sestroretsk arms factory to train and participate in the manufacture of the Ertelu system fitting . In 1852 he received the title of weapons master of “Their Imperial Highnesses Vel. Princes Nicholas and Mikhail Nikolaevich "with the right to put the imperial emblem on their products. In 1862 he was awarded a silver medal on his Vladimir tape for his work at the factory, and in 1864, a gold watch for a weapon made for the Grand Dukes. After 1864 he joined the merchant class, becoming a merchant of the second guild . In the 1860s, he designed the revolver , starting in 1866, manufacturing and selling it to officers of the Russian army. In 1868, Goltyakov received the privilege to manufacture revolvers and pistols for the army from the Department of Trade and Manufactures, with the right to sell throughout Russia. In 1873, he became the supplier of the court of the Greek king George I [3] .
Goltyakov had two sons, who followed in the footsteps of his father - Nikolai and Pavel [4] .
Factory
The workshop of hunting weapons was opened by Goltyakov in 1840. In 1852, 13 workers worked in it, in 1869 - 1 master and 8 apprentices, in 1879 - 29 workers. By 1886, the number of workers rose to 87, plus 25 students, by 1897 there were only 21 workers, including 5 working on the side, there were no steam engines. Production volumes (according to known data, possibly incomplete) were as follows:
- 1869 - 70 revolvers of 15.5 rubles and 40 thousand rounds of ammunition worth 8,200 rubles were produced.
- 1871 - Goltyakov pledged to produce 500 Tolta revolvers for 13 rubles each for the Tula Arms Plant and another 500 Lefosha systems for 17 rubles each.
- 1877 - A contract was signed with the artillery unit of St. Petersburg port for the supply of 5,000 revolvers to the maritime department.
- 1879 - according to data on this date, in the year the factory produced 1000 revolvers with a total value of 18 thousand rubles.
- 1897 - annual output of 9,000 thousand rubles [5] .
Participation in exhibitions
- 1853 - in Moscow, hunting rifles were exhibited
- 1872 - Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition, a diploma-winning target rifle was exhibited, the rifle is stored in the Gatchina Arsenal.
- 1882 - Industrial and art exhibition, hunting rifles and revolvers were exhibited, Goltyakov received a silver medal.
- 1886 - exhibition of the Imperial Russian Technical Society , exhibited: double-barreled breech-loading rifle designed by Goltyakov (at a price of 1,500 rubles), and a double-barreled pistol of the same design, two central battle guns with damask trunks of 500 and 400 rubles, a capsule gun with a damask barrel at a price of 300 rubles, two capsule shotguns with steel trunks for 23 rubles 50 kopecks, and 21 rubles 25 kopecks.
- 1900 - World Exhibition in Paris , hunting rifles and two collapsible samovars were exhibited [5] .
