Rawk is a creature in Sami mythology , like a vampire .
Description
In Sami mythology, the spirits of the dead, especially those who were sorcerers or shamans , were threatened alive by the dead. There is a myth in which an old man and an old woman lived in one hut, who had three daughters and two sons. The old man died and took the old woman with him: he was a sorcerer ( “heretic” , the Russian name that the Saami and Komi borrowed), wanted to take the daughters with him, too, but those did not live out their lives — even his teeth of youth and good health: in the beliefs of the Komi-Zyrians, the sorcerer who lost a tooth, lost his power ).
Somehow the older daughter stayed alone at home and began to cry from anguish. It is dangerous to be miserable, especially for the dead. At night, the girl hears someone walking along with one foot. I was delighted to be a stupid guest whatsoever, and he demanded food. Having eaten everything, the alien attacked the hostess herself and ate her, did not touch only the legs. The same happened with the second daughter. The third daughter, left alone, behaved sensibly: she let the dog down and cooked boiling water and stones. Vampire Ravk appeared to her, but the dog would not let him to the gate. Then Ravk began to gnaw at the wall. The third daughter began to pour boiling water on him and throw stones. Coming from the grave and it could not stop, so he was hungry. Ravk had already climbed into the hut, but then it was light, and the dead man was stiffened in place. Fleeing neighbors drove a needle between his shoulder blades, and then burned him so that he would not return to the world of the living again.
The one-legged creature is a characteristic inhabitant of the underworld, the edges of the Ecumene and the forest (this is what Plesmurt is like - half a man in Udmurt mythology).
