Biography

Zhabaga Suleimenovich Takibaev was born on September 28, 1919 in Semipalatinsk . During the repression, his father died in prison shortly after imprisonment, his mother died afterwards, and Zh. S. Takibaev himself ended up in an orphanage [1] .

In 1942, Zh. S. Takibaev graduated with honors from Central Asian State University named after Lenin , in 1949 he graduated from the graduate school of the Physics Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences , where he studied under the guidance of M. A. Markov . In 1958 he defended his doctoral dissertation and was elected an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR . In 1959, J. S. Takibaev was awarded the title of professor , and in 1967 the honorary title of Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR [1] [2] .

Since 1949, Zh. S. Takibaev served as a senior researcher and head of the cosmic ray laboratory of the Institute of Astrophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR . From 1951 to 1957 was director of the Physicotechnical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, from 1957 to 1959 . worked as a director, and from 1959 to 1965 Head of the Department of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, at the same time - academician-secretary of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. In 1962, he was elected vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, remaining in this position until 1971 . From 1965 to 1970 Zh. S. Takibaev was director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. In 1970, he was one of the founders of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, which he headed until 1975 , after which he headed the laboratory of this institute. From 1981 to 1991 Head of the Department of Nuclear Physics, Kazakh State University. S. M. Kirov . Since 1989, J. S. Takibaev was an adviser to the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, and in 1993 he was appointed supervisor of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan [3] [4] .

He was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR of the VI convocation.

Zh. S. Takibaev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of Parasat , a medal and an honorary diploma of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR [4] .

He died on October 31, 2016 at the 98th year of his life [5] .
