The presidential election in Togo was held on April 25, 2015 . President Fort Gnassingbé has nominated himself for a third term. Besides him, four more candidates were running for the post. The main opposition candidate was Jean-Pierre Fabre from the National Alliance for Change [1] . The National Independent Electoral Commission declared Gnassingbe the winner, who collected 59% of the vote, while Fabre received 35%. Fabre called the results a crime against national sovereignty, stating that he considers himself the new president [2] [3] .

On May 3, the Constitutional Court confirmed the official results announced by the National Independent Electoral Commission, and declared Gnassingbe President of Togo for the next 5 years. Fabr refused to appeal in court, saying that this institution serves the ruling party [4] . Gnassingbe took the oath for a third term on May 4, 2015. [5]
