Biography

Born in the family of a Cossack officer Ivan Alexandrovich Rodionov , future writer, and student of the Academy of Arts Nina Vladimirovna, nee Anzimirova. Nobleman. The marriage broke up when Yaroslav was three years old; Together with his younger brother Vladimir, he stayed with his mother. Nina Vladimirovna lived under her maiden name until, shortly after the revolution, she married the theater illuminator Georgy Konstantinovich Samoilov.

In the early 1920s, he took lessons from the director and actor of the Chamber Theater Alexander Chabrov . In 1922-1924 he played in the Koshevsky Theater " Nepriday ". In 1924, together with most of the troupe, he moved to the Blue Blouse . He composed poems for plays, since the late 1920s he has written plays (usually co-authored), words for pop songs, and has been engaged in translation work. Adopted in the joint venture of the USSR . At the beginning of 1941, he wrote the words for “Songs of the Old Cabman,” which became famous in the performance of Leonid Utesov .

World War II

Since November 1941 - an employee of the Northern Fleet newspaper Krasnoflotets in Polyarny , also worked in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Northern Fleet, wrote ditties for him. He flew across the front line, went to sea on warships. The novel "The New Adventures of Schweik", written in 1942, remained unpublished.

In May 1943 he was awarded the Order of the Red Star [1] [2] .

Doom

In July 1943, returning with the ensemble troupe on a train after performing in parts of the Northern Fleet, he was bombed near the Arctic Circle station and was seriously wounded, died at the station of the city of Kandalaksha [3] . He was buried with military honors in the city of Polyarny . [4] [5]

Memory

In Polyarny, a monument to the poet was erected near the Museum of Local History.
