Writing
In 2012, Alexey Motorov's debut book, “The Young Years of Nurse Parovozov,” which was the author’s memoirs from medical practice in the 1980s, was released. The protagonist is twenty-three-year-old Alexei Motorov (Steam locomotives are a nickname). Critics note that it is immediately obvious that the novel was written “by a person who is at least close to medicine” [3] [4] , a combination of artless narration and fascination, the vitality of the stories told, which distinguishes Motorov’s book from many autobiographical books about doctors [5] . A month after the release of the book, it became the "Book of the Month" according to the Moscow store. According to the results of the readers' online voting, she was awarded the readership prize of the NOS Prize of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation [6] [7] , and also entered the long list of the Big Book [8] .
In 2014, the sequel to the book, Crime of Dr. Parovozov , was released. In this novel, Motorov not only described the life of his lyrical hero, but also thought out a detective story, the events of which occur in October 1993 . [9] Critics note that "compared to the first, the second book is skillfully assembled compositionally: it is difficult to break away from a series of intertwining medical and pioneer everyday life, and even the simple story told by Dr. Parovozov sounds fascinating" [10] , as well as the fact that in both books, the author managed not to slide into pure entertainment and “do what is called literature” [11] .
In 2017, he left the Russian PEN Center , saying that " Russian PEN has ceased to meet its mission, namely, to be a human rights organization that advocates freedom of speech ." [12]
