Early biography
Ivica Chulyak was born on June 4, 1960 in a village near the city of Vinkovci. It is known that he had a very hostile relationship with his father, and this greatly influenced his tendency to protest against any oppression. After visiting relatives in the GDR in 1978, he became interested in punk . Around the same time, he experienced a traumatic psyche event - the death of several of his friends in a river. In 1979, he came to local punks who called themselves Pogreb X and became their vocalist (despite the lack of musical ear, a sense of rhythm, but thanks to even then noticeable charisma). In 1981, an incident occurred during which Chulyak killed one of the hooligans who attacked him. He was found guilty of insufficient evidence that it was a forced self-defense and sentenced to 12 years in prison. However, the doctors examining him found manic-depressive psychosis , as a result of which Ivica was not in prison, but in a psychiatric clinic.
Satan Panonski
In the clinic, having a lot of free time, he painted bizarre paintings , wrote poetry . When they started releasing him from the clinic “for socialization” in the mid-1980s, taking the pseudonym Satan Panonski, he started giving concerts, mainly with musicians from the Skol and Majke bands. His concerts were distinguished by an unprecedented entertainment for that time (for which he is often compared with the shocking GG Allin [2] : he beat the bottle’s head, cut the body with fragments, pierced the skin with hairpins and sawed it with a jigsaw on his own stomach. However, it only reached the end of 1989 the year when the album “Ljuljajmo Ljubljeni Ljubiasti Ljulj” was recorded, which is a fairly crude collection of songs mostly even without a guitar part (just bass + drums). In 1990, the band recorded their second album, called “Nuklearne olimpijske igre”, in which logged in re isannye in new instrumental composition (a rhythm section added another guitar) songs from previous albums and several new songs. At the same time came the disintegration of Yugoslavia , and when in 1991 began the Serbo-Croatian war Ivica, drawn by the time of of a psychiatric hospital, volunteered for the front, the reason for this was the occupation of the part of Croatia where his mother lived. In 1992, Satan recorded an album of "patriotic" songs "Kako je punker branio Hrvatsku", which caused many bewilders of his fans, convinced of his absolute oh apolitical. Between January 20 and 27, Satan Panonski died under mysterious circumstances. There is a version that he was shot dead by one of the overly religiously fanatical ustashi because of the rejection of the image of Ivica. According to a more popular version, he died in an accident (drunk slipped on ice with a loaded weapon, which as a result shot at him). Ivica was buried as a Croatian warrior on Anina Street in the hometown of Vinkovci [3] .

Facts
- There is a common myth that Ivica was a fighter for LGBT rights in Yugoslavia. However, this information is not confirmed by anything. However, he was probably homosexual (although he met a girl named Vesna in his youth).
- Despite his pseudonym, Chulak had nothing to do with Satanism and took his pseudonym after he was repeatedly called “Satan” by superstitious locals.
- He often began his concerts with the phrase "I am Satan Panonski, by nationality - punk, by profession - friend"
- There is information that I. Chulyak twice sat on drugs (tablets), but both times managed to tie. However, it is known that in one way or another they played a significant role in his life, but he was not a "systemic" drug addict.
Ivica Chulyak is considered one of the most charismatic and distinctive punk rockers in the Balkans. His concerts took place on the largest stages of Zagreb, Belgrade, Sarajev and others.
