Biography

Born into the family of a French diplomat in India. At 5, he returned to France. With the beginning of revolutionary wars he entered the military service in the cavalry.

December 14, 1801 was appointed commander of the squadron of the 12th Hussars. October 29, 1803 promoted to majors, and appointed deputy commander of the 10th Horse Jaeger Regiment. From July 10, 1806 to September 27, 1806 he served as adjutant Louis Bonaparte . In July 1806 he entered the service of the Kingdom of Holland. September 27, 1806 he was appointed commander of the 2nd regiment of the Dutch hussars. December 20, 1806 - commander of the Hussars of the Royal Guard. He received the honorary position of the Great Stable Dutch Crown. He took part in the Austrian campaign of 1809.

November 11, 1810 again in the French service.

In the Russian campaign, he commanded the 2nd brigade of the 1st cuirassier reserve division of the cavalry reserve, after wounding General Saint-Germain at Borodino, he headed the entire division. In 1813, the commander of the cavalry of the 5th Army Corps, General Loriston, was captured. In 1833 he retired.
