History
October 10, 1806 there was a battle between the Napoleonic and Prussian armies, which ended in victory for the French [2] .
During the Second World War, in the vicinity of the city was one of the branches of the Buchenwald concentration camp, the Laura concentration camp .
From 1945 to 1949, units of the 39th Guards Rifle Division of the 8th Guards Army (GSOVG) , as well as the 17th Guards Tank Orlov Order of Lenin, the Red Banner Order of Suvorov, regiment of the 79th Guards Tank Order of the Zaporozhye Order of Lenin of the Red Banner Order and the Orders of the Suvorov, were stationed in the city. Bohdan of the Khmelnitsky Division, 8th Guards Order of Lenin Army.
The city produces the famous Scho-Ka-Kola chocolate.
